Information and Advice

Independent and accurate information and advice is essential to enable us all to live our lives the way we want to. It enables us to make informed choices and decisions, retain control over our lives and confidently challenge situations that are going against us.

Age Concern Oxfordshire’s Information and Advice Service can help with a wide range of local and national up to date information, specialist knowledge and trained advisers who can provide anything from straightforward information and signposting to indepth discussion on complex issues and support to help sort out a difficult situation.

Whether you have a simple question on a simple issue or have found yourself drowning in the complex web of social services care and funding, we can help.

Information and Advice Helpline – our trained advisers use our comprehensive library of local and national information and up to date knowledge to provide answers to over 5,500 enquiries a year. They will sensitively discuss your enquiry or issue with you over the phone and can follow this up with leaflets and factsheets. They can also sometimes offer a home visit for very complex situations or where you would like help completing a benefit application or appeal form. All advisers have specialist knowledge of welfare benefits for over 60’s.

We also have Independent Case Support Workers who are specialists in the field of Long Term Care funding and experts on NHS Continuing Healthcare funding, assessments and appeals.

If you have been provided with information but feel that you need a bit more support to act on it, put your point across and ensure your voice is heard, our Advocacy service could be the ones to help.
