Housing Choices - helping you to make an informed choice.

Age UK has a new service enabling holistic housing advice for older people. This new Housing Choices service will provide support to older residents in Cherwell and West Oxfordshire to enable them to make timely, appropriate and informed choices about their accommodation.

We aim to:

  • provide housing related advice, assistance and support to clients
  • ensure older people have better information to enable them to remain in their chosen home, safely and securely.
  • support older people to maintain their independence for as long as possible.
  • By having better information clients will be able to make an informed housing choice that meets their individual needs – whether they wish to remain in their own home and need appropriate support or housing adaptations, or if they wish move to sheltered or residential accommodation we will seek to provide the information they need to make their choice.

We have two caseworkers, providing 45 hours per week between them, dedicated to providing housing advice and supporting clients. The caseworkers have the resource to visit clients in their own homes if required and to follow up on advice provided. Where appropriate the caseworkers will work with other relevant agencies to secure options for clients.

If you think we can help you please give us a call.

Referrals can be made to us by support agencies or directly by the client by phoning 0844 8870005 between 10 am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

Please note that this service is currently only available to residents in Cherwell and West Oxfordshire District Councils.
